AAZPA Newsletter: October 1971
The NRPA and the AAZPA jointly announced on 20 September 1971 that the membership of the AAZPA voted overwhelmingly to follow an independent course of action. This development is the result of philosophy differences. Acknowledging the need for providing a new sense of identity and self respect to all citizens through leisure activities as a primary function of NRPA, the AAZPA felt obligated to further expand its involvement in the areas of conservation, science and education.
