I had some board members that were businessmen that once in a while would try to use your influence on me, but I also had a board member who was a judge and his name was Tom McGuire. Tom McGuire was a very strong mentor for me. He taught me a lot about the legal issues having to do with anything legal in the zoo. Any legal problem whether it was HR or with the public, I could always go for advice. And if I ever got pressure from any member of the board, I would confided in the judge and he would usually have really good advice.
