So instead of spending five years or spending seven years as most do, because I had a head start on it, and because I had an empathetic ecologist advisor at the university, he and I agreed to three years. And at the end of three years, my field work would be done. All the questions would be answered. I would have written my dissertation and defended it successfully. And in the end it worked out well, there was, that was also one of the other times that Les Fisher sort of put his foot down and said, “I’m not gonna tell you, you can’t do that, but you got no flexibility here at all.
